Algarve South (guided)

Day 1: Arrival in Faro
Private arrival at start hotel. Easy access by taxi from airport (about €15).

Day 2: Vila Real (30 km/18 miles)
Travel by light railway along the coastline to Vial Real at the Spanish border. At the hotel you will receive your bicycles. From there you start the tour over the Guadiana River to Ayamonte and the beach of Monte Gordo.

Day 3: Tavira (45 km/28 miles)
Today, Castro Marim will be on your tour. From there you cycle to Cacela Velha. Further on you go to your destination Tavira, a small fishing village.

Day 4: Sao Bras/Loulé (40 km/25 miles)
Along aromatic lemon and orange groves you cycle through the back-country of Algarve.

Day 5: Silves (50 km/31 miles)
After a visit to the lively craft town Loulé, the cycle bus takes you to Salir. From there you cycle along the Alte past the Arade water supply dam to Silves, the old Moorish capital of the Algarve. A cultural highlight of the tour is waiting for you: the Cathedral Santa Maria (13th century) with it old Moorish mosque.

Day 6: Sagres (55 km/34 miles)
By cycle bus you go to Marmelete, then descend towards the west coast and Aljezur. You follow the coast to dune landscape around Carapateira. Enjoy a cooling swim before you cycle further to Cabo de San Vincente and on to Sagres.

Day 7: Lagos/Faro (35 km/22 miles)
The last stage leads you to Salema and further on to Luz and Lagos. The “Ponte de Piedade” is another highlight and the end of this journey. After a stroll through Lagos you will go by bus back to Faro.
